DC Circuit Upholds FERC Approval of CP2 LNG Export Terminal Project
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has won its defense of its approval for Venture Global's CP2 LNG export terminal project in Louisiana. The US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit upheld FERC's decision on August 25, 2026. National and Louisiana-based environmental groups had argued that FERC didn't properly assess potential harms from the project.
According to the court opinion, FERC reasonably interpreted the Natural Gas Act when approving the CP2 LNG export terminal project. This means the commission followed the correct procedures in determining whether the project is in the public interest.
