DDG Prices Rise Amid Tight Supply
Distillers dried grains (DDG) prices rose on average for the week ended September 3, according to DTN's weekly spot price. The average DDG price was $179 per short ton, up $5 from one week ago.
The tight supply of DDG is attributed to slower production last week, which has driven prices higher. Additionally, cash corn prices and soybean meal prices also increased compared to the previous week.
DTN's National Average Corn Index was up 11 cents per bushel, while soybean meal prices rose by $14.60 per short ton versus one week ago.
The value of DDG relative to corn was 0.927% for the week ended September 3, and its value relative to soybean meal was 50.35%. The cost per unit of protein for DDG was $6.63 compared to $7.48 for soybean meal.
