DDG Prices Surge Amid Shift in Corn, Soybean Meal Values

The DTN weekly spot price for domestic distillers dried grains (DDG) rose on average by $3 to $181 per short ton, compared to one week ago. The average is based on prices from 33 locations reporting for the week ended September 10.

While DDG prices were mixed but higher on average, cash corn prices declined versus one week ago. The DTN National Average Corn Index was down 6 cents per bushel. Soybean meal prices, however, increased by $1.40 per short ton compared to the previous week.

The value of DDG relative to corn for the week ended September 10 was 0.950%, up from 0.927% the previous week. The cost per unit of protein for DDG remained at $6.70, while soybean meal costs stood at $7.51 per unit.

U.S. Grains and Bioproducts Council reported that September prices for distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) exports were up, with the CIF NOLA barge price rising by $4 to $273 metric ton. Midwest ethanol production averaged 1.038 million barrels per day, down from 1.053 million barrels per day in the previous week.
