Debunked: Iranian Oil Tanker Video Sparks False Claims Amid US-Iran Escalation

A video circulating on social media claiming to show an Iranian oil tanker destroying a U.S. reconnaissance boat has been found to be misleading by Misbar's team at Al Araby TV.

The investigation revealed that the video is actually from a longer clip published on July 22, 2024, showing a security team aboard a container ship repelling an attack by an unmanned surface vessel in the Red Sea.

The incident occurred on July 20, 2024, when the Liberian-flagged container ship PUMBA was attacked by a Houthi unmanned surface vessel. The security team fired about 20 rounds at the drone boat, which exploded near the vessel, causing minor damage.

This revelation comes amid renewed tensions between Iran and the United States, with both sides engaging in military actions against each other's targets.
