Delfin LNG Project Advances with Seabed Survey in Gulf of Mexico
The Delfin LNG project is gearing up for its next phase of development. The R/V Brooks McCall, a vessel used for geophysical data acquisition, will lead a survey at the deepwater port site in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana. Geophysical data acquisition is scheduled to commence at the end of August, followed by the geotechnical phase anticipated to begin in late September.
The integrated survey program aims to provide critical seabed and subsurface data to support the continued development of the deepwater port infrastructure. The Delfin LNG project is poised to become the first US offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility utilizing floating production technology, with a combined capacity of approximately 13.2 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).
The full development envisions up to three floating LNG (FLNG) vessels, with the first unit targeting around 4.4 mtpa.
