Delhi CNG Price Hikes Amid Global LNG Price Surge
CNG prices in Delhi have increased by Rs 3.89 per kg from Saturday, August 29, due to rising input gas costs. According to Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), global spot liquefied natural gas (LNG) prices have nearly doubled amid escalating conflicts in West Asia and European winter demand.
The company attributed the price increase to higher imported LNG costs, which account for a significant portion of the gas used to supply CNG. IGL said that despite the sharp movement in international gas benchmarks, retail CNG prices in Delhi have seen only a relatively modest increase.
IGL reaffirmed its commitment to optimising sourcing costs and maintaining CNG as an economical, clean, and dependable fuel for auto-rickshaws, taxis, private vehicles, and public transport fleets. The company said that Indian consumers have largely been insulated from the volatility in international energy markets due to strategic sourcing and calibrated price adjustments.
