Delhi CNG Price Hikes by Rs 3.89/kg Amid Global LNG Cost Surge
IGL, the company that retails CNG to automobiles and piped cooking gas to households in Delhi and its surrounding cities, has increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by Rs 3.89 per kg.
The new price of CNG in Delhi is now Rs 86.98 per kg, effective from August 29, making it one of the highest prices this year.
This latest hike takes the cumulative increase in Delhi CNG prices to nearly Rs 10 per kg since the beginning of the year, when the price was at Rs 77.09 per kg.
Prices have also been increased in neighboring cities like Noida and Ghaziabad, with Noida now having a CNG price of Rs 95.59 per kg and Ghaziabad at Rs 95.59 per kg.
The increase comes after IGL cited a sharp rise in international LNG prices following the renewed West Asia crisis and disruptions to gas cargo movements through the Strait of Hormuz, which has pushed global LNG prices nearly twice their pre-crisis levels since July.
