Transport unions in Delhi have demanded an immediate increase in autorickshaw and taxi fares after Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) raised the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) by ₹3.89 per kg from Saturday.

The hike takes CNG prices to ₹86.98 per kg in Delhi, ₹95.59 in Noida, ₹95.59 in Ghaziabad, and ₹92.01 in Gurugram, with the cumulative increase this year reaching nearly ₹10 per kg.

General secretary of the Auto Rickshaw Association and Delhi Pradesh Taxi Union Rajendra Soni urged the government to hike fares or provide a subsidy, saying that drivers will go on strike on September 9 if there's no revision within a week.
