Delta State Seeks New Path Beyond Oil
The Delta State Economic and Investment Summit was held in August 2026. The summit aimed to map out a new course for the state's economy, beyond its reliance on oil.
In an article titled 'Delta Without Oil', former Governor Uduaghan wrote about the need for the state to invest in sustainable sectors and reduce its dependence on federal allocations based on crude oil.
Uduaghan argued that the state's over-reliance on oil was a false sense of security, citing historical precedents where oil-producing countries faced economic consequences due to their reliance on a single revenue source.
