DEP Issues Permit for Northeast Natural Gas Project in Chester and Lancaster Counties

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued a Chapter 102 permit for the Northeast Natural Gas Supply Enhancement Project Quarryville Loop and Compressor Station 200 in Chester and Lancaster counties. The permit allows for the installation of an electrical power substation and revised underground power ducts at Compressor Station 200, as well as a contractor yard at Milepost 1686.1 on the Quarryville Loop.

The Chapter 102 permit is required for any project that involves the use of state waters or wetlands, and it is designed to protect water quality and prevent environmental harm. The revised design for Compressor Station 200 includes the installation of an electrical power substation and a shift in the proposed underground power ducts banks.

Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, LLC, the company behind the project, has been given permission to stage piping and equipment at a contractor yard on the Quarryville Loop. The permit was announced in the August 15 PA Bulletin, and any person aggrieved by this action may challenge it in an appropriate legal forum.
