Diamondback Energy Stock Edges Higher on Strong Q2 Metrics and Permian Pipeline Deal
Diamondback Energy's stock price edged higher on August 17, 2026, as investors weighed fresh operational data and new midstream capacity tied to the Permian Basin. The company's shares closed at $206.29, up 1.89 percent for the session.
The Permian pipeline deal and strong Q2 2026 metrics support Diamondback Energy's long-term growth narrative. In Q2 fiscal 2026, the company generated revenue of $5.53 billion and earnings of $1.88 billion, reflecting a sizable profit base on its Permian-focused operations.
Diamondback Energy also secured a stake in a newly approved large-scale natural gas pipeline system out of the Permian, which will transport 2.25 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas. The company holds a 7.5 percent interest in the Solitude Pipeline System, a joint venture that includes two 48-inch pipelines connecting the Permian Basin to Katy, Texas.
The timing is significant, as Phase 1 of the pipeline system is targeted for completion by the second half of 2029, and Phase 2 will follow in 2030. This provides Diamondback Energy with clearer visibility on how future production can reach end markets and potentially capture higher netbacks during periods of tight capacity.
