Diamondback Energy Surpasses Production Milestone, Doubles Share Repurchase Authorization
Diamondback Energy (FANG) has reported its Q2 2026 earnings, exceeding expectations in several areas. The company's total production hit a milestone of over 1 million barrels of oil equivalent per day, with an average of 525,000 barrels of oil per day. This growth is driven by operational efficiencies and high commodity price realizations, resulting in $2.3 billion in free cash flow.
The net debt has been reduced by $1.6 billion during the quarter, bringing it to $12.8 billion. Diamondback Energy's CEO, Kaes Van't Hof, stated that the company is prioritizing balance sheet improvements and positioning itself for future growth opportunities. The share repurchase authorization has been doubled to $16 billion, with approximately $9.9 billion remaining available.
The company is shifting its focus towards growth in response to low global inventory levels. Van't Hof noted that these inventories will need to be refilled, which should benefit Diamondback Energy and its shareholders. The Barnett development is being expanded, and enhanced oil recovery surfactant technologies are being tested.
