Diesel Prices Soar Past $6 a Gallon Amid Ongoing Iran War
A record-high average diesel price of $6.05 per gallon was reached in the US on Friday, surpassing the previous high of $5.85 last week and a staggering $3.70 at this time last year.
This surge is largely attributed to Washington's ongoing war with Iran, which has disrupted global fuel supplies and sent oil prices soaring. Brent crude, the international standard, traded at over $105 a barrel on Friday, up from roughly $70 before the war.
The higher diesel prices are expected to have far-reaching consequences for everyday goods, as diesel is used in many freight and delivery networks. Businesses have already begun passing along increased costs to consumers through added fees on online orders and packages in the mail.
