Diesel Prices Soar to Record High Amid Geopolitical Tensions

Diesel prices have hit a new record high of $6.05 per gallon, surpassing the previous record set in June 2022, according to AAA.

The surge in diesel prices is largely due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and disruptions to global fuel supplies, including the Iran war and Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries.

As a result, the cost of transporting goods by truck has increased significantly, with Patrick De Haan, GasBuddy's head of petroleum analysis, stating that 'every truck, every delivery, every package, every grocery run just got more expensive.'

The higher diesel prices are expected to have a ripple effect on the economy, particularly in the agricultural sector, where fuel accounts for a significant portion of costs.
