Dollar Edges Higher Amid Crude Oil Rally and Hawkish Comments
The US dollar index rose by +0.06% on Tuesday due to increased inflation expectations and hawkish comments from Chicago Fed President Goolsbee.
Goolsbee stated that 'inflation is the biggest problem the economy faces.'
WTI crude oil prices climbed more than +1% to a 1-week high, boosting the dollar as it raises inflation expectations and may persuade the Federal Reserve to tighten monetary policy.
The dollar received further support from weakness in stocks on Tuesday, which boosted safe-haven demand for the dollar.
