Dollar Falters as Oil Prices Slide Amid US-Iran Tensions
The US dollar index (DXY) held steady today despite rising tensions between the US and Iran, which pushed oil prices down by about -3%.
President Trump's comments on considering a 'massive attack' on Iran sparked safe-haven demand for the dollar, but it failed to gain significant ground.
The 10-year T-note yield dropped by around -3 basis points after reaching a new 1.5-year high earlier in the session.
Meanwhile, gold and silver prices rebounded slightly higher, with August COMEX gold (GCQ26) up +19.5 (+0.48%) and September COMEX silver (SIU26) up +0.856 (+1.47%).
