Dollar Index Falls Amid Expectations for Fed Rate Lock, Oil Prices Plummet
The US dollar index fell to 101.22 as markets expect the Federal Reserve to keep interest rates unchanged this week, according to CME FedWatch.
Crude oil prices plummeted, with WTI down 4.97% and Brent down 3.93%, following a decrease in geopolitical tensions between the US and Iran.
The release of data showing China's industrial profits rose 18.7% in the first half of the year, with mining and manufacturing profits growing 33.5% and 20.1%, respectively, also contributed to the market's mixed performance.
