Dollar Slips as US and Japan Intervene in Yen Market
The US dollar dropped against the Japanese yen after the US and Japan intervened to prop up its value, while oil prices fell sharply following President Donald Trump's announcement that he would order US forces to refrain from attacks on Iran.
Futures for the S&P rose 0.6%, with futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbing 1.1% and Nasdaq futures up 0.3% before the opening bell Monday, according to traders working on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei 225 index in Japan lost 0.9% after the US dollar fell to 155.20 yen from recent highs near 164 yen, while the Kospi in South Korea dropped 5.1% due to a surge in value last Friday and subsequent decline.
