Dollar Strength Weighs on Gold and Silver Prices
International gold and silver prices closed lower on Friday. On the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for December delivery lost 1.39 percent to settle at $4,476.60 per ounce.
Silver futures for December delivery dipped 1.41 percent to close at $66.748 per ounce. The decline in precious metals prices comes as the US dollar strengthened in late trading on Friday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.27 percent to 99.177 at 15:00 (1900 GMT). The strengthening of the dollar had a negative impact on gold and silver prices.
