Dollar Strength Weighs on Industrial Metals Complex
Copper and zinc took a hit on Wednesday due to a strong dollar and concerns about interest rates staying higher for longer.
Benchmark three-month copper on the London Metal Exchange fell by 0.99% to $14,133.5 per metric ton by 0300 GMT.
The most-traded copper contract on the Shanghai Futures Exchange dropped 1.65% to 107,710 yuan ($16,022.55) per ton.
The dollar held firm after overnight gains, with renewed hostilities in the Middle East pushing oil prices higher and reviving inflation concerns.
