Domestic Grain Demand Surges Amid Uneven Export Sales
Domestic grain demand has seen an uptick in June, with corn and soybean processors using more of both grains than they did a year prior. The USDA's Grains Crushings and Co-Products Report for August 3 shows that ethanol plants consumed 467 million bushels of corn, up 4% from June 2025. This total accounts for 92.2% of all corn used in the month.
Total corn use reached 520 million bushels, with distillers dried grains production totaling 1.82 million tons and wet distillers grains increasing by 7%. Meanwhile, soybean processors crushed 218 million bushels, up from 197 million a year earlier and 213 million in May.
Crude soybean oil production increased by 8%, while refined oil output rose by 12%. The stronger crush supported nearly 4.85 million tons of soybean meal production for livestock feed and other uses. Corn processing also supplied feed ingredients, corn oil, industrial products, and captured carbon dioxide.
