Donalda's Giant Oil Lamp Beckons Visitors to Alberta's Badlands

In the heart of Alberta's Badlands lies the tiny village of Donalda, home to an eye-catching landmark that's impossible to miss. The World's Largest Oil Lamp Replica stands tall at 42 feet above the village, lighting up at dusk and drawing visitors from far and wide.

The lamp is a replica of an old-fashioned oil lamp, designed by the community as part of their millennium project in 2000. It was meant to complement Donalda's growing collection of historic oil lamps, which has since become one of the village's biggest attractions.

But what's even more impressive than the lamp itself is the extensive collection of over 1,500 historic lamps housed at the Donalda and District Museum. These lamps date back from the 1600s to the 1950s, and are just a small part of the museum's larger local history collection featuring over 4,000 artifacts.
