DRDGOLD's Gold Rush Brings Record Profit
DRDGOLD's financial year (FY) 2026 has ended on a high note, thanks to a significant increase in gold prices and higher-than-guided production. The South African tailings retreatment company reported revenue of ZAR 11.2 billion, a 42% jump from the prior year, while headline earnings climbed 89% to ZAR 4.2 billion.
The strong results were driven by an unhedged gold strategy, which allowed DRDGOLD to capture the full benefit of higher bullion prices. Average gold prices in the second half of the year reached ZAR 2.46 million per kilogram, about 40% higher than a year earlier.
DRDGOLD's production also beat expectations, with total gold output coming in just below 5 tons, or about 160,000 ounces, above the top end of guidance by roughly 5,000 ounces. The company's shares rose 4.69% in pre-market trading to $25.44, indicating investors welcomed the strong results.
