Drone Attack on U.S.-Owned LNG Tanker Sparks Fire at Egypt's Damietta Port

A drone attack on a liquefied natural gas storage and transport facility at Egypt's Damietta port has sparked a fire, according to reports. The incident occurred on July 29, with British maritime security firm Ambrey stating that a U.S.-owned gas storage tanker was hit by the attack.

The affected facility is operated by Energos Infrastructure, a U.S. corporation, with operations managed by Wilhelmsen Ship Management. Industry sources cited by Reuters indicated that the drone targeted the floating storage unit Energos Winter, which has a storage capacity of 138,250 cubic meters.

While the Egyptian government confirmed the fire, they did not specify whether it resulted from a drone attack. No group has claimed responsibility for the incident, and no casualties have been reported.
