A drone strike on Wednesday evening at Damietta Port in Egypt has forced a key floating gasification vessel, Energos Winter, out of service. The US-owned ship was chartered by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) and had a storage capacity of 138,250 cubic meters and regasification capacity of up to 650 million cubic feet per day.

The incident has reduced the volume of gas available to the domestic market by about 9.5%. Energos Winter had been receiving around six LNG cargoes per month, totaling approximately 920,000 cubic meters, which produced around 19.5 billion cubic feet of natural gas after regasification.

The Ministry of Petroleum will redistribute available gas supplies among different sectors, prioritizing power plants to avoid any impact on the stability of the electricity grid.
