DSS Arraigns 19 Suspected Crude Oil Thieves in Akwa Ibom
Nineteen suspected crude oil thieves have been arraigned in Akwa Ibom State.
The Department of State Services (DSS) arrested two vessels, MT WESTAF and MT MKPODU, while siphoning crude oil from a platform operated by a major oil company on the shores of the state.
The Magistrate Court sitting at Fulga Road, Uyo, remanded the suspects at the Uyo Medium Correctional Facility for an initial period of twenty-one days due to the gravity of the offence.
This decision was made because the Federal High Court, which is handling the matter, is currently on recess and will resume in September.
