Dubai Gold Prices Fall as Global Markets Retreat from Two-Month Peak

Dubai's gold prices dropped on Friday, with 24K gold falling to Dh519.75 per gram, down from Dh530.25 on Thursday and Wednesday. This decline comes as global gold prices retreated from their two-month peak.

The drop in gold prices is attributed to softer US inflation signals, which reduced expectations of another Federal Reserve rate hike next month. The markets were pricing a 35 percent probability of a September rate increase, down from around 55 percent a week earlier.

Gold's appeal is generally improved by lower interest rates, as bullion does not generate interest. However, the US dollar has remained a key influence on gold prices, and the UAE dirham remains closely linked to the US dollar.
