Gold prices in Dubai dropped on Wednesday morning as the precious metal slipped globally ahead of the US Federal Reserve's meeting minutes release. According to data from the Dubai Jewellery Group, 24K gold was trading at Dh524.25 per gram, down from Dh526.0 per gram on Tuesday.

The price drop extends beyond 24K gold, with other variants like 22K and 21K trading slightly lower at Dh485.5 and Dh465.5 per gram respectively. Meanwhile, in the UAE, 18K gold prices fell below the key psychological level of Dh400 per gram, trading at Dh399 per gram.

The spot price of gold was also affected, down 0.56% to $4,340 per ounce. Rania Gule, a senior market analyst for Mena at XS.com, attributed the shift in expectations surrounding US monetary policy as the most influential factor behind gold's current price action.
