Duke Energy Sets 2028 Construction Start for NC Gas Plants and LNG Facility

Duke Energy has provided a timeline for its upcoming natural gas projects in North Carolina. The company plans to start construction on two combined-cycle gas plants in Davie County by 2028, with each plant producing 1,360 megawatts of power. In addition, the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage facility in Duke's history will be built across the Yadkin River in Davidson County.

The construction start date of 2028 marks a significant milestone for the projects, which were previously announced but lacked a specific timeline. The combined-cycle gas plants are expected to produce electricity while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional power generation methods.
