The Dutch central bank has shifted 86 tonnes of gold reserves from the US and Canada to London, citing increasing geopolitical unrest. The move aims to improve the deployability of gold reserves in times of crisis.

The DNB bank held 31.3% of its gold in New York and 19.7% in Ottawa before the transfer. After the reconfiguration, each country now accounts for 18.5% of the Dutch gold reserve. The share of gold held in London has increased from 18.1% to 32.1%

The bank used a combination of buying and selling and physical transport to minimize risks associated with moving large quantities of gold. The operation took place between March and August this year.
