Dutch Central Bank Moves 86 Metric Tons of Gold Amid Global Tensions
The Dutch central bank, De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), has transferred 86.4 metric tons of gold from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York between March and August 2026 to improve crisis readiness amid global tensions.
This move is part of a broader trend of central banks globally cutting dollar-denominated exposure, with gold trading near $4,383 an ounce, up from $2,605 at the end of 2024.
The transfer was worth approximately €10.1 billion to €10.3 billion, or about $10.7 billion to $10.9 billion, and has reshuffled the vault map for DNB's gold reserves, with London now holding 32.1% of the bank's reserves.
