Dutch Central Bank Shifts Gold Reserves Amid Rising Geopolitical Tensions
The Dutch Central Bank has made a significant shift in its gold reserves, transferring approximately $12 billion worth of bullion from New York and Ottawa to London. The decision was made due to growing concerns about global geopolitical unrest.
Between March and August this year, the bank moved around 86 tons of gold to London, with nearly a third of Dutch gold reserves now held in the UK capital. This represents more than a quarter of the bullion it holds in the US and Canada.
The move highlights the growing uncertainty and instability on the global economic stage. As concerns about geopolitical unrest increase, central banks may be reevaluating their asset allocation strategies to mitigate potential risks.
