Dynagas Shipments Weaken EU Leverage Over Russian LNG Exports
A Greek shipping company, Dynagas, has delivered over €2.35 billion worth of Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) to EU customers in the first seven months of 2026.
This is despite an EU ban on LNG imports from Russia set to take effect in January 2027.
Dynagas has been granted an exemption from sanctions, allowing it to continue shipping LNG to third countries, but critics argue this weakens the EU's leverage over Russia's Arctic trade.
The company accounted for 35% of all LNG sent to the EU from Russia's Arctic Yamal terminal, which accounts for 63% of Russia's LNG exports.
