ECA LNG Project Delayed by Compressor Damage
San Diego-based Sempra Infrastructure has delayed the commissioning phase of its Energia Costa Azul (ECA) LNG Phase 1 project in Ensenada, Mexico. The facility's refrigerant compressors were damaged, forcing a pushback to the fourth quarter from an earlier summer target.
The compressor damage is expected to delay commercial LNG exports from the ECA project, which was initially set to start this summer. As a result, Permian Basin natural gas feedstock demand will face a longer wait.
Compressor repairs are underway at the facility, but no specific timeline has been given for when work will be completed.
