Edouard Brings Natural Gas Prices Back Down by Two-Thirds in Gulf Coast and Southeast

Natural gas prices in the Gulf Coast and Southeast region plummeted by about two-thirds from Monday's surge past $7 as Tropical Storm Edouard made landfall near the Texas-Louisiana border.

The storm's approach led to a significant drop in physical natural gas prices for Wednesday delivery, with many hubs surrendering their gains. The Gulf Coast Natural Gas Cash price gave back around $2 from Monday's highs.

The region's hub prices varied, with Southeast hubs holding around $1 above Friday's levels and the Houston Ship Channel experiencing a near-landfall gain. Henry Hub barely budged as Louisiana plunged, but overall, the market reacted to Edouard's arrival by retreating from its earlier spikes.
