The Egyptian government and British energy giant BP are set to increase natural gas production from the North Fayoum-4 offshore well in the Mediterranean Sea. The project aims to add approximately 80 million cubic feet of gas per day to Egypt's domestic output.

According to officials, the new production start follows a successful side-track drilling operation carried out by BP as part of its efforts to boost gas production in Egypt. This innovative approach enabled the well to resume production from new reservoir layers without needing to drill a separate standalone well.

The project is seen as an example of advanced engineering solutions that can deliver additional gas volumes quickly and at lower costs while maximizing the value of existing wells and production facilities.
