Egypt Buys August LNG Cargoes Amid Peak Summer Demand
Soaring temperatures in Egypt have led to an increase in electricity demand during peak summer months. To cope with this surge, Egyptian General Petroleum Corp., the country's state-run energy company, has secured August deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
The company bought LNG cargoes from a previously issued tender and existing suppliers that had contracts to sell to Egypt.
The move aims to alleviate the strain on Egypt's energy infrastructure during the hot summer months. The country is experiencing extremely high temperatures, which has put pressure on its power grid.
