Egypt Crude Oil Output Hits Highest Level in Nearly Two Years
Egypt's crude oil output has reached its highest point in nearly two years, according to Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi. The country's refining sector is also experiencing a surge in export performance, with petroleum product exports surpassing 2.3 million tonnes during the first half of 2026.
This figure equals the entire volume exported in 2025 and is expected to reach 2.5 million tonnes in the second half of the year. Sales of jet fuel, naphtha, waxes, and vacuum distillates brought in roughly $2.3 billion.
The ministry has implemented various projects aimed at strengthening energy security, lowering import costs, and expanding exports. A recent modernisation programme worth EGP 150 million is expected to save EGP 30 million each year, while also reducing gas consumption, extending equipment life, and cutting emissions.
