Egypt's crude oil production has reached its highest level in almost two years, according to Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. The country's refining sector is also performing well, with petroleum product exports exceeding 2.3 million tonnes in the first half of 2026.

This marks a significant increase from the total recorded for all of 2025. Sales of jet fuel, naphtha, waxes, and vacuum distillates generated approximately $2.3 billion in revenue during this period.

The ministry is advancing $4.5 billion in refinery projects to strengthen energy security, reduce import costs, and expand exports. A recent modernisation programme at the Cairo Oil Refining Company is expected to save EGP 30 million annually while reducing gas consumption, extending equipment life, and cutting emissions.
