Egypt Secures August LNG Cargoes Amid Peak Summer Demand

Soaring temperatures in Egypt have led to increased demand for electricity during peak summer months. To cope with this surge, the country's energy companies are buying prompt deliveries of liquefied natural gas (LNG). Egyptian General Petroleum Corp., the state-run energy company, has secured August LNG cargoes through a previously issued tender and additional purchases from existing suppliers.

The people familiar with the matter who spoke to Bloomberg said these spot deals are being made in secret due to confidentiality agreements. The increased demand for electricity during the hot summer months is putting pressure on Egypt's energy companies to secure sufficient supplies of LNG to meet peak summer demand.
