Egypt Set to Top Arab Wheat Production in 2026 with 10.2 Million Tons
Egypt is poised to retain its position as the Arab world's top wheat producer in 2026, according to estimates by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
With a projected output of 10.2 million tons, Egypt's wheat production is expected to increase by approximately 7 percent compared with the average production level.
This growth is mainly driven by the expansion of cultivated areas, which has reached a record high of 3.76 million feddans, up from 3.16 million feddans in the previous season.
The government's efforts to encourage farmers have also contributed to this increase, including setting the wheat procurement price at LE 2,500 per ardeb and adopting high-yielding, climate-tolerant wheat varieties such as Misr 3 and Sakha 95.
