Egypt's Food Exports Soar to 160,000 Tonnes in a Week
Egypt's food exports saw a significant surge in the week of August 8-14, with the country shipping out 160,000 tonnes of goods. The National Food Safety Authority's (NFSA) weekly report revealed that 3,800 consignments were exported by 1,475 companies across 654 food products. This includes vegetables, fruits, preserved food preparations, flour, and grain products.
The NFSA report highlighted the top exports, which include sweet potatoes at 13,000 tonnes, onions at 7,000 tonnes, and strawberries at 10,000 tonnes. Fruit exports totalled 30,000 tonnes, with citrus fruits and mangoes each accounting for 6,000 tonnes.
The largest destination for Egyptian food exports was Saudi Arabia, followed by Sudan, Libya, Spain, and the US. The shipments reached 181 countries worldwide. Safaga Port handled the highest number of export consignments at 775, followed by Damietta with 445 and Alexandria with 440.
