The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) released its weekly natural gas storage report on Thursday, revealing that the country's natural gas inventories saw a significant build. According to the EIA, there was a net injection of 36 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of natural gas into storage for the week ended August 7, matching NGI's forecast but exceeding many market estimates.

The report showed that the injection was higher than expected, with many analysts predicting a smaller build. This increase in storage levels could have implications for natural gas prices, which had been trending lower due to concerns about high inventory levels.

Despite the increase in storage, salt stocks declined again, indicating that there may be ongoing challenges in managing the country's natural gas supplies.
