Enamelled Wire Industry's Operating Rate Dips Amid Copper Price Surge
Copper prices have seen a sharp rise in mid-to-late July, leading to strong wait-and-see sentiment among downstream buyers. The traditional off-season for the enamelled wire industry has also contributed to weaker demand, causing production schedules at end-users to slow.
The comprehensive operating rate of the enamelled wire industry in July was 69.97%, down 1.99 percentage points month-over-month and up 2.72 percentage points year-over-year. The operating rates for large, medium-sized, and small enterprises were 73.63%, 60.14%, and 68.37% respectively.
Due to the sharp rise in copper prices, downstream buyers have been cautious, only making sporadic purchases for rigid demand. This has led to difficulty in landing new orders, forcing enterprises to cut production schedules and further dragging down the industry's operating rate.
