Enel Chile Sees Growth Amid Challenging Hydro Conditions
Enel Chile SA, listed on the NYSE as ENIC, posted a 4% rise in first-half 2026 EBITDA to $685 million and an 11% increase in net income to $272 million. Chief Executive Officer Gianluca Palumbo attributed this growth to 'portfolio optimization,' increased renewable output, and gas-management initiatives.
The company's hydroelectric generation declined by about 1.1 TWh due to lower rainfall during the first half. However, Enel Chile expects improved hydrological conditions in the second half, maintaining its full-year hydro-generation outlook of around 10.7 TWh.
The company saw a decline in net electricity generation from the first half of 2025, mainly due to reduced hydroelectric output. This was partly offset by higher renewable output and increased thermal generation, which rose 5% year over year to 3.6 TWh.
Enel Chile secured additional short-term LNG volumes for the second half of 2026 and signed a 15-year renewable power-purchase agreement providing up to 1 TWh annually of non-solar energy starting in the second half of 2026.
