Energy markets are bracing for two crucial reports from top organizations this week. The US Energy Information Administration will release its Short-Term Energy Outlook (STEO) and the International Energy Agency will publish its Oil Market Report (OMR).

The Brent price, currently trading above its 200-day simple moving average, is expected to be a key focus of these reports. According to the EIA's previous STEO, Brent was forecasted to average $82 per barrel in 2026 and $65 per barrel in 2027.

However, futures markets are pricing an average 2027 Brent price close to $75 per barrel, around $10 above the EIA's estimate. This divergence could indicate a shift in market expectations.

The Henry Hub natural gas futures curve is showing the opposite signal. Against EIA forecasts of $3.64/MMBtu in 2026 and $3.49/MMBtu in 2027, futures are trading at a discount due to record domestic production and elevated inventories.
