Equinor, Uniper Sign 15-Year Gas Deal Strengthening German Energy Security
Norway's Equinor and German energy company Uniper have signed a long-term agreement to supply natural gas to Germany, strengthening Europe's largest economy's energy security.
The 15-year deal will see Equinor deliver over 30 TWh of gas annually, about 2.8 billion cubic meters, from January 2027 through December 2041.
Pricing will be based on market terms, while commercial details remain confidential.
Equinor's president and CEO, Anders Opedal, said the agreement demonstrates the strong demand for reliable gas supplies from Norway's continental shelf, which delivers energy with a lower carbon footprint than alternative sources.
The deal comes as Europe reshapes its energy system, with natural gas expected to remain an important source of energy security and industrial supply.
