Ethiopia's Agricultural Exports Reach $4.55 Billion in 2025/26 Fiscal Year
Ethiopia's agricultural sector has shown significant growth in the 2025/26 fiscal year, generating over $4.55 billion in export earnings. The Ministry of Agriculture attributed this success to expanded cultivation, increased productivity, and growing output across crop and livestock subsectors.
According to the ministry, a total of 33 million hectares was covered by various crops, producing 1.85 billion quintals during the fiscal year. Irrigated wheat production continued to strengthen Ethiopia's food-security position while creating greater potential for the domestic economy and agricultural exports.
The Bounty of the Basket (YeLemat Trufat) program played a significant role in this success, with Ethiopia producing over 15.83 billion liters of milk and over 427 million tons of honey, as well as supplying 11.7 billion eggs to the market. Coffee accounted for the largest share of agricultural exports, remaining a major source of foreign exchange for the sector.
