EU Gas Prices Rebound Amid Improved Shipping Conditions
EU gas prices continued their decline on Friday, reaching around €57 per MWh. This drop in prices follows losses from the previous session and is attributed to improving shipping conditions through the Strait of Hormuz.
The recent arrival of Qatar's first LNG tanker through the waterway in over three weeks has boosted hopes that exports from one of the world's largest LNG suppliers could gradually resume.
Northwest Europe has also received steady LNG deliveries, while pipeline flows from Norway have remained reliable. These developments have helped ease supply concerns in the region.
Despite the recent price drop, EU gas prices remain more than 33% higher in July due to renewed US-Iran hostilities disrupting Persian Gulf supplies and heatwaves increasing electricity demand.
