EU Gasoline Prices Rise 24%, Diesel Prices Climb 33% Since Middle East War
Gasoline prices in the European Union have risen by 24% and diesel prices by 33% since the outbreak of war in the Middle East, according to data from the European Commission. The conflict has intensified concerns over global oil supply security, leading to a surge in pump prices across Europe.
The EU's average gasoline price, including taxes, stood at €1.64 per liter on February 23 before the war began and rose to €2.04 per liter by September 7. Diesel prices increased even more rapidly over the same period, with the EU average diesel price rising to €2.11 per liter from €1.59.
Among EU member states, gasoline prices rose most sharply in Denmark and Finland, both experiencing increases of around 36%. Czechia and Poland followed closely behind with rises of about 32%.
